Home How Dentures Work

How Dentures Work

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth and restore oral function.

Dentures are designed to fill the gaps that are left when teeth are lost. Complete dentures are fitted in cases where the entire dental arch needs to be replaced; whereas partial dentures are used when not all teeth need replacing.

Dentures are often very helpful when it comes to not only restoring oral function, but also the aesthetics.

Discover how dentures work and what options are available below.

How are dentures fitted?

The process of having dentures fitted usually involves between four to six appointments, each of which takes place about a week apart from one another.

The process typically begins with an initial consultation, in which impressions and molds of your smile are taken. These impressions are sent to our top-of-the-range dental laboratory, where your custom dentures will be fabricated.

When your dentures have been made, you will come back in to have them fitted. Afterwards you may need to come in for an adjustment or two to ensure that your dentures fit comfortably.

What are my options for dentures?

There are a number of options available at Impressions Dental Studio when it comes to dentures. We offer immediate dentures, precision dentures, standard dentures and implant-supported dentures.

Immediate Dentures

Immediate dentures are a good choice for patients who have had their teeth extracted and want a replacement fitted straight away. Impressions of the mouth are taken before the teeth are extracted, which speeds up the process. To find out what the immediate denture process involves, please click here.

Precision Dentures

Precision dentures are designed to be very strong and well-fitting. They provide excellent support for the gums, and produce very natural-looking results. The process involves more steps than standard dentures, but the result is generally a much more accurate fit and long-term gum health. Find out what the process involves here.

Standard Dentures

Standard dentures are a cost-effective option and are ideal for patients who need to have a whole arch of missing teeth replaced. These dentures are custom-made to suit you, and are one of the best options available for replacing a full arch of teeth. Find out about the process of having standard dentures fitted here.

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures are ideal for patients who are not suited for conventional dentures. At Impressions Dental Studio, we offer three options: permanent dentures on implants, removable dentures on implants, and implant retained dentures. Find out more on implant-supported dentures here.
